It’s time for an adventure, people! And spoiler: beware of a super long blogpost with a bit of text and plenty of photos from Dinopark Germendorf!

Do you remember my portrait photo series of the temporary dinosaur park in Berlin that I took about two years ago? My friend Anni and I had tons of fun back then and enjoyed the company of some huge artificial dinosaurs for one day and we were even allowed to climb on top of them.

Past weekend, it was finally time for a new jurassic adventure and I was so excited!

Northwest of Berlin, there is an awesome park which is a mixture of an amusement park, a dinosaur park and a small zoo. It is called Freizeitpark Germendorf and it’s perfect for a day trip from Berlin, even when you don’t have a car and want to go by public transport. From my Kiez in Prenzlauer Berg it takes about 1 1/2 hours to get there. By car, it’s way less.

My dear friend Anna and I went to the park past Sunday and took a ton of photos and had so so much fun walking around the life size dinosaurs!

Dinosaur park family fun

The park has the size of 69 hectare and was opened in the year 2000. It became bigger over the years and now features a playground, some fun rides, a palaeontological show garden in which the history of the earth from the dinosaurs to the Neanderthals is presented and there are even about 650 animals such as goats, alpacas or emus.

The park is so versatile and big that you can spend an entire day there, not only with kids. There is so much to discover and learn and if you like taking fun photos, that’s your place to go.

The only thing I really disliked about the park is that there are also some small monkeys and huge snakes whose cages seemed super tiny. To see that made me sad.

Apart from that, there were plenty of indigenous animals with at least bigger open-air enclosure.

My fave part of the park is obviously the artificial dinosaur exhibition. The huge life size creatures are made of glass-injured polyester and the biggest one, the Brachiosaurus, is 23 meters long and twelve meters high, such as the original dinosaur which has lived about 150 million years ago.

According to the facts on one of the information boards in the park, the Brachiosaurus alone must have cost about 69.000€. The animal and leisure park was established by creator and owner Horst Eichholz, who has fulfilled a lifelong dream with doing this and passed away in 2017.

When Anna and I went to Dinopark Germendorf, we were super excited about all the fun creatures and stopped every few meters to take some more photos.

And of course there were fries! No day tripping without a portion of good old fries!

One of my fave parts of the park: the huge mushrooms. Like in a fairy tale. In the back: some of the dinosaurs.

The coolest thing: when you look up the park on Google Maps and switch on the Google Earth mode, you can see all of the dinosaurs from above and recognize them on the map.

My fave shrimp and partner in crime, Anna!

OMG, it’s sooo huge! I am super fascinated by dinosaurs and always try to imagine how weird and also dangerous life would be if we were living with them at the same time. Can’t wait to watch Jurassic Park another time.

My camera tripod and the self-timer are my best friends!

Roaaaarrrrr!

What is super awkward and awesome at the same time: there is even an artificial volcano with the height of 25 meters. You can climb on top, have a look at the park from above and if you want to, you can insert 1€ into a slot and then smoke comes out of the volcano. Ha! And if you’re too lazy to climb down again, you can simply take the slide downwards.

Dinosaurs behind every corner everywhere you go.

What a fantastic fun day! We ended it with a proper portion of ice cream and drove home being super happy!

Before I come to an end with this article, I wanna show you a small bunch of even more photos from the park.

Dinopark Germendorf in winter

Past year in winter, I have already been to the park once. It was my first time going there and I was absolutely thrilled when we arrived and saw the first dinosaurs. I love dipping into such a fantasy world for a few hours.

I went there with a bunch of super dear people and we spent the day laughing so much and discovering the whole park.

As mentioned above, the whole park includes a small section with fun rides. They are super old school and you usually have to insert 1€ to get started.

That ride was insane, making people spin around and around and around. My friends had fun – as you can obviously see – but I was too afraid that I might puke afterwards.

Before we spent most of the time with the dinosaurs, we visited some of cute animals of the zoo. I love when you are allowed to pet the animals, to feed them and to make new furry friends for the moment.

And then: DINOSAUR fun!

Past year, we went to the park on a pretty cold day and it was much less crowded than this time on a hot and sunny Sunday.

My fave part again: the huge mushrooms. Back then past year, it was even more magical with some deer browsing in between.

The first time ever I got myself such a kitschy souvenir: a coin with a dinosaur. I have been keeping it with me in my wallet ever since.

That was fun!

I hope you enjoyed reading the article and looking at the photos as much as I did!

Have fun going to Dinopark Germendorf on your next weekend trip or Berlin adventure and make sure to tell me about your experience below in the comment section or on Instagram!

Happy week!
